How did you end up at Duke?

I’m from North Carolina, so Duke was always on my mind as a dream school, but what really attracted me was the Romance Studies department. I’ve been studying Spanish and French since elementary school and plan to double major in Romance Studies and Biology at Duke, which is a pathway that few other schools offer.

What do you like to do outside of lab? Hobbies? Interests?

One of my favorite hobbies is running since I ran varsity cross country and track in high school and it’s still something that I’m very passionate about. I also really love reading! My favorite books right now are probably A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and The Secret History. Additionally, during the experiential orientation week at Duke, I participated in PWILD (see the photo of my crew!), which was a 5-day backpacking trip through the Pisgah National Forest, and I have grown to love hiking and backpacking ever since. Fun fact: I am also a certified EMT!
